This fat transferring ability intrigued Dr. Simeons and he conducted studies using the hormone on overweight patients. Participants were administered HCG diet injections daily and were required to follow a VLCD, or very low calorie diet. Dr. Simeons observed that the participants lost significant amounts of weight while following his regimen and that they also experienced far less hunger, fatigue, lightheadedness, and additional side effects commonly associated with other low calorie diets. In 1954, he released these findings to the public in his book titled, "Pounds and Inches." Since then, HCG diets have helped many individuals meet their weight loss goals.
