How the HCG Injection Therapy & Diet Plan Works

How HCG Injection Therapy Works

Losing weight is never an easy feat. You have to stick to a strict diet and often avoid many of the foods that you enjoy. Plus, you have to exercise regularly, even when it seems inconvenient. However, sometimes, all of that dieting and exercise alone does not provide the weight loss results that you are looking to achieve, which can be very discouraging. Thankfully, there is the hCG injection therapy diet plan. In conjunction with a strict diet and some activity, the hCG injection therapy plan may be able to help you finally shed those extra pounds. All you have to do is follow a simple diet and injection process, and you will see how well the hCG injection therapy truly works. You may even lose up to a pound a day!

The Diet Plan

To be successful in the hCG injection therapy program, you have to follow a strict, low-calorie diet. The first plan was introduced by Dr. Albert Simeons in the 1950s. Simeons, a British-born physician, was the first to postulate a connection between hCG and weight loss. He reasoned that since the hormone was responsible for utilizing a pregnant woman’s fat reserves to sustain fetal growth, it might also trigger increased fat burning in women who were not pregnant as well as men. He found that although hCG did not cause weight loss on its own, if combined with diet modifications and a moderate amount of exercise, participants lost an average of 25-40 pounds over a 40-day period. A general overview of Dr. Simeons’ initial diet plan includes:

  • Eating only 500 calories a day
  • Avoiding starchy and sugary foods
  • Drinking at least a gallon of water a day

These plans have evolved a great deal since then, with many variants now espoused by their proponents. One change is the number of phases in the diet. Initially broken into three parts, most hCG diet plans now have four phases. They are:

Phase One – Loading

First introduced by Kevin Trudeau in his book, “The Weight Loss Cure,” this phase lasts for two days and involves eating as many fatty, high-calorie foods as possible in order to store enough fat reserves to last through phase two.

Phase Two – Weight Loss

This is where the rubber meets the road. Lasting from 26 to 40 days, participants are restricted to eating no more than 500 calories a day. No sugar, very few carbs, and lots of lean proteins are what you can expect during this phase, although there are many variations on these guidelines.

Phase Three – Transition and Stabilization

Upon completion of phase two, some previously off-limits foods are slowly reintroduced, although starches and sugars are still no-nos. Healthy fats such as avocado, salmon, and nuts are added on a one-per-day basis.

Phase Four – Maintenance

Lifelong healthy eating habits are the key to successful maintenance. While participants are allowed to consume more calories, they’re encouraged to continue following a phase three diet. Twenty minutes of moderate exercise daily is also a part of this “new normal”.

The Injection Therapy

While it is the stringent diet plan that truly causes the weight loss, hCG injection therapy is still essential. For 20 or 40 days, depending on the protocol, participants are required to take hCG injections as directed, as the hCG may be able to limit or eliminate the side effects of the diet plans, such as:

  • Hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Lightheadedness
  • Nausea
